Kumquats are acidic citrus fruits that are popular for their use in marmalades or fresh eating. Nagami Kumquat is the most commonly grown variety with tiny, orange, oval fruits, the size of a large olive, that are eaten whole. The flesh is sour and the rind is sweet.

A medium-sized tree that may go semi-dormant in winter, Nagami Kumquat is a bushy, thornless, cold-hardy tree that looks great in the garden or in a container on the patio. Self-fertile. Needs heat to sweeten fruit. Harvest Fruit in Winter. Protect from cold temperatures below 24F.

The mature height and fruit production of your citrus tree will depend on several environmental factors such as climate, light, soil type, texture, fertility and moisture, and pruning practices. Your citrus tree can easily be maintained at a smaller size with annual pruning.

Citrus needs full sun, moist soil, and aerated soil. Fast drainage is essential. Water regularly and consistently the first year for deep roots. Reduce frequency after plant is established but water deeply. In spring, feed with a balanced fertilizer in spring and prune erratic growth or shape as desired.
